New week, new books. The big two’s main event books come out, but I’m unfortunately throwing in the towel with Fear Itself. It’s just not doing it for me, though I’ll probably see what you folks say to see if I should jump back on. Here we go:

5) Secret Six #35
Of all the DC books that are either getting cut or the re-boot come September, this is one that the most die-hard fans will be missing the most. I’m one of them – you can tell how much Gail Simone has enjoyed writing these characters and it looks like she’s got something big planned for Bane.

4) Vengeance #1
I’m all for a Magento-led book and Joe Casey leading this one is the icing on the cake.

3) Batman : Knight of Vengeance #2
While #1 wasn’t the strongest of Brian Azzarello’s scripts, it set the tone for a darker Batman and a darker Gotham. We supposedly get to find out who the Joker is in this universe. My money is on Alfred.

2) Red Skull #1
There’s only one reason I’m trying this out – Greg Pak. He wrote the fantastic X-Men : Magneto – Testament book that I reviewed some time ago. I’m expecting just as deep of a character study with Cap’s major villain.

1) Flashpoint #3
Barry Allen is burnt bacon. And the world is plunging into further chaos. Say what you will about how too much is going on – it’s a fun read and makes it all the more exciting to see what will come out of it come this September.
