NOTE: At this time, much of what we discuss on Flashpoint comes before the big announcement DC made yesterday regarding a major re-boot.

After a long hiatus, Gary and I get back on track to discuss the latest in all things comics. And it’s quite the mouthful:

– We first discuss DC’s announcement of Flashpoint #5 being the only DC book coming out on August 31st (at the time of our recording, that is) and how its resolution is bringing a great amount of change to the direction of the DC universe. Gary shares some great points that he feels ties into to the $2.99 initiative and how DC wants to bring new readers to their fold.

– We then discuss a great article from Jason Wood on how DC’s $2.99 initiative has not produced the increased sales they were hoping for. It’s very thought-provoking and speaks a lot to how marketing and PR has worked well for Marvel and why they continue to hold the majority of the market share for the last 10 years.

– On top of that article, we also discuss another article from Wood on if Marvel flooding the market is what’s giving them dominant market share. It really points out how seeing DC consistently in the Top 10 doesn’t always equate to better sales or market share.

Let us know your thoughts and comments on these matters. Still a lot more news to come after the big announcement was made…
